Pandora's engine

The global investigation led by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has uncovered 11.9 million documents from 14 law firms revealing 700 offshore companies linked to Spain.

The full list of those who appear in the "Pandora's papers" (there are at least 600 Spaniards) not only includes politicians, artists and other famous or well-known people, but also points to a total of 29,000 owners of offshore companies in more than 90 countries.

The technicians of the Ministry of Finance (Gestha) suspect that the people appearing in the "Pandora Papers" will regularise their tax situation before the Tax Agency reacts. In the meantime, the Treasury says that you'll be looking at it to see if this is the case.

This is another one of those news items from last week that paraded among many others and quickly ended up in the boot of the past. Moreover, the most heard and read comment is "what a novelty", "it will remain the same as always", reminiscent of the "limited" repercussions of the Wikileaks papers or the Panama Papers, to cite some of the best known investigations.

And the fact is that it has become so normalised, so normalised, that tax fraud and evasion are now assumed to be what they are, the heart of the engine of the system's machine.

Fleeting notes

I leave here a summary of the week with some of the notes that I took, and that I was too embarrassed to throw away, in case I drew something. News that passed through my nose at full speed.

And the best thing to do is to open with a good one. There is already one malaria vaccine endorsed by the WHO. This disease, which kills hundreds of thousands of people every year, killed 409,000 in 2019.

And another, let it not be said that there is none. The train drivers' union called off the strike after getting Renfe to restore pre-pandemic services. Workers = 1, anti-labour rights alienated = 0.

But good things don't come in abundance, in La Palma everything is still more complicated with the volcano and its activity, new lava flows, more losses and more than 300 earthquakes in the last days, some with magnitudes higher than 4.

Ayuso, as usual, kept on talking bullshit while taking Instagram pictures of herself in Niu York, also during and after the national convention of the PP. This should not be news, but the media dresses up everything declarative-opinionated as matters of general interest.

The Supreme Court condemned the Podemos deputy Alberto Rodríguez for kicking a policeman, it was not necessary to prove the kick because in this country, what a policeman says is the word of God. This story will continue in the European Court of Human Rights

Violent botellones. That's the headline of the TV news every day. In Madrid, Barcelona and other cities, the chaveas were breaking things and handing out punches without any aim, goal or motive. The media has gone so far as to say that it is due to the natural release after the end of the toughest restrictions due to the pandemic.

Images of violence also came from the UK, where a re-enactment of Mad Max was staged at petrol stations because of the lack of fuel.

Vargas Llosa said that people are voting wrong, that they have to vote for the right. This is another of the large group of mediocrities who are used to bellowing against what they call the "moral superiority" of the left. Then his name appeared in the Pandora papers, a classic.

And while we are on the subject of karma, the PP has had to swallow two toads it idolised and held up as references. Nicolas Sarkozy, convicted of illegally financing his campaign in the 2012 elections, and Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, who has resigned accused of corruption.

Fernándo Sánchez Dragó, another stale, uptight, classist, self-satisfied, self-praised man with millions of self-felations and fantasies to his credit, claimed to have read 30,000 books

Someone had to tell himFernando is well read, but he is not a good mathematician. He is 84 years old, which happens to be just over 30,000 days to live. Which would mean that he has read a book a day since he was born".

Pérez Reverte, like a dumb kid, threw himself into a ridiculous tantrum for a few days over some nonsense related to a James Bond film. The macho litterateur, chronically ill with a rare variant of offendidiasis, likes to say things, generally irrelevant.

The vouchers arrived, the rent voucher of 250 for two years and the cultural voucher of 400 for young people when they turn 18, and with them the usual idiocies about youth and video games

The usual textbook "less is nothing" has also been intoned. But in the case of the rent voucher, it is more than likely that it will not even be good for a toothlessness. It will be patched up by those who really mark and impose rent prices.

Then there are other little things about our self-sacrificing emeritus, but I'll leave them for the next tocho. In the meantime you can read this other one.
