Radio listener

The listener, also known as SWL (Shortwave Listener), is the name given to both the activity itself and the person who tunes in and listens to various radio broadcasts.
Listeners practice "DX", which stands for "Distance", radio contact at a distance, and can practice two types of listenerism:
- Diexism with QSL card confirmation: Some listeners seek confirmation of their listening via QSL cards, which are letters or postcards sent by amateur or commercial radio stations as a courtesy for reporting the reception quality of their transmissions, the equipment used, and some other detail related to the content of the listening.
- Diexing without QSL card confirmation: Other listeners practice diexing without seeking formal confirmation via QSL cards. Although they do not obtain this type of validation or proof, they enjoy listening and recording radio signals or recording transmissions for the pleasure and interest in amateur radio.
