Os links quebrados provocam perdas de autoridade (link juice) e esgotam o orçamento de rastreamento (crawl budget), uma vez que os bots dos motores de busca perdem tempo a indexar respostas HTTP 404 em vez de conteúdo de valor. Além disso, prejudicam a experiência do utilizador ao interromper o fluxo de navegação e aumentam a taxa de rejeição. Ao corrigi-los com redirecionamentos 301 ou atualizando os URLs, otimiza-se o rastreamento do site, preserva-se o fluxo de equidade de links para as páginas de destino e consolida-se a arquitetura do site para evitar penalizações indiretas no posicionamento orgânico.
Ao fazer a verificação de rotina de links quebrados com o plugin de sempre, o Broken Link Checker, descobri que a verificação local já não funcionava, possivelmente devido a alguma proteção do servidor. Por isso, peguei numa função muito simples que tinha por aí e aperfeiçoei-a um pouco com a ajuda do Gemini, para a tornar mais fácil de utilizar e para executar a verificação e correção de links quebrados.
Embora os links quebrados surjam como cogumelos, nesta viagem reparei numa perda significativa de links do Twitter (X), que está a perder contas a um ritmo alucinante. Já aparecem centenas de contas e/ou tweets que deixaram de existir, mas vou deixar este assunto para um artigo futuro sobre a morte da web tal como a conhecíamos.
Para utilizar esta funcionalidade, basta adicionar o snippet ao ficheiro functions.php do seu modelo ou tema filho, ou ao seu plugin de snippets; em «Ferramentas/Inspecção de Links», encontrará a ferramenta e as respetivas opções, que são descritas em pormenor a seguir.
1 - Tipos de estado. Aqui podes escolher entre mais de 10 tipos de estado para uma verificação seletiva.
2 - O botão «Iniciar Verificação Contínua» executa uma verificação sem interrupções. Embora não devesse, pode ter algum impacto na velocidade de carregamento do site. Já o mantive a funcionar durante horas sem incidentes.
3 - Digitalização em lote. Serão digitalizadas 10 entradas sempre que premires este botão.
4 - Exportar/Importar JSON. Como o plugin não grava nada na base de dados, se fechar o navegador perderá a lista e, para recuperar tudo aquilo de que não se lembre de ter feito, terá de guardar sempre a sua lista de análise com a opção «Exportar». Para a recuperar, basta importá-la.
5 - Informações sobre o processo de digitalização.
6 - Filtrar por tipos. Assim que terminar a verificação, pode filtrar a visualização da lista por estados.
7 - Publicação/Página. Aqui terás um link para editar a publicação e outro para (Ver), para a visitares.
8 - O âncora do link para que o encontres mais rapidamente.
9 - O URL do link que não funciona.
10 - Código de estado HTTP do link.
11 - Ação. O símbolo de fecho apenas remove essa linha da vista da lista. Não edita, não apaga nem adiciona nada.
12 - URL de substituição. Campo onde se insere o link de substituição.
13 - Pesquisar no Archive.org. Ao clicar aqui, o Wayback Machine será aberto com a lista de datas disponíveis das cópias do teu URL (se existirem), para que possas escolher a que mais te interessar.
14 - Remover hiperligação. Esta opção elimina a hiperligação, mantendo o texto da hiperligação na publicação ou página, caso não tenhas uma URL alternativa ou não queiras adicioná-la.
Deixemos claro desde já que se trata de uma função descartável; recomenda-se que a elimines assim que terminares a limpeza. Não creio que venha a modificá-la, mas se o fizesse, atualizaria o código aqui mesmo.
Embora, no final, tenha ficado um código demasiado longo para um snippet — que, em princípio, deve ser algo curto ou um fragmento —, funciona bastante bem. É verdade que ainda pode ser aperfeiçoado para evitar certos falsos positivos de 404 e melhorado com a seleção múltipla de ações, mas se não tiveres muitos links e tempo para os rever manualmente, é totalmente funcional.
Para substituições em massa de links, podes recorrer aos clássicos plugins especializados, como o Better Search Replace e o Search Regex.

Melhorias:
1 - É adicionada uma caixa de seleção múltipla à esquerda e um botão «Desmarcar os selecionados» para remover da lista linhas em lotes.
2 - O tempo de resposta para os links do Archive.org e do Bluesky foi ajustado para 7 segundos, para evitar que apareçam muitos resultados 403 ou «Timeout» com estes domínios.

Novo sistema de exclusão de domínios (Proteção de IP): Foi integrada uma matriz de exclusão robusta para ignorar grandes sites e redes sociais.
Omissão silenciosa: A partir de agora, se o scanner detetar um link que aponte para o Google, YouTube, Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Archive.org, Amazon, Pinterest ou TikTok, irá omitir esse link automaticamente, sem efetuar qualquer pedido HTTP para esses sites. Por isso, terá de verificar esses links com outra ferramenta ou manualmente.
Zero falsos positivos e sem bloqueios: esta medida evita que o endereço IP do seu servidor seja temporariamente colocado em listas negras devido a um excesso de pedidos (limitação de taxa, como os bloqueios 429 nas APIs do Google). Além disso, elimina os resultados de «links falsos quebrados» (erros 403) causados pelos firewalls anti-bots agressivos destas plataformas, tornando a análise geral muito mais rápida e eficiente.
