Historic heatwave in Europe

Historic heatwave in Europe. Cartoon from 29 June 2026 in CTXT

More than 380 million Europeans are facing temperatures above 30°C. Around 191 million people in Europe have experienced temperatures above 35°C during the recent heatwave between 18 and 29 June, whilst 381 million have faced temperatures above 30°C.

Tedros Adhanom, Director-General of the World Health Organisation, issued this warning on X;

Europe is the fastest-warming continent on Earth, warming at twice the global average rate. Right now, 150 million people are living in extreme heat; hundreds have died; schools are closed; and electricity grids are stretched to their limits. Driven by climate change and global warming, the ‘once-in-a-generation’ heatwave phenomenon is now occurring almost annually. We were warned. More than 1,300 excess deaths linked to high temperatures have been recorded in Europe since 21 June. Heat stress is often called the ‘silent killer’ – and European homes, workplaces and schools were not built to cope with these temperatures.

@WHO is working with its Member States and partners to address the health threats posed by extreme heat, focusing on stronger preparedness, prevention and responses from health systems. In particular, we are encouraging European countries to implement heat-related health action plans as part of the broader agenda to protect health against climate change.

According to a study published by World Weather Attribution (WWA), a European network that studies the role of climate change in extreme weather events, the current heatwave affecting Europe would have been “virtually impossible” just 50 years ago and is 200 times more likely today than it was two decades ago.

Among other things, the study highlights that “in 1976, when some of the previous European records were broken, the temperatures of 2026 would have been virtually impossible to record in June, and also highly unlikely at any other time of year. In 2003, during the first major heatwave of this century, daytime heat like this would still have been very unusual – about ten times less likely than it is today – whilst night-time temperatures like those seen this June would have been more than a hundred times less likely in 2003.”

Consequently, various European countries are experiencing different problems associated with extreme heat, as in the case of France and Germany, where a record high of 41.3 degrees Celsius has also been recorded amidst an ongoing heatwave that is significantly affecting infrastructure, transport and other essential services, forcing the authorities to take exceptional measures.

Experts once again agree that these extreme heatwaves, which are becoming increasingly severe and frequent, are yet another symptom of climate change caused by human activity, whilst the narrow-minded continue to point to the sky and blame everything on chemtrails, claiming that dark forces are spraying us with the sole aim of dumbing down and exterminating the entire population so that they can then impose the new world order of the Illuminati-Masonic-Reptilian consortium.
