I take advantage of the last typing of the year to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your occasional or regular visits to this blog.
2024 has a while to go and, as I do every year, I give up on summarising it because I find it both pretentious and tiresome. The most usual thing is that the bad news wins by a landslide, so all we have left are good wishes. The same that we had for the year that is going and all the previous ones.
For me, the most remarkable and shameful thing about 2024 has been, and is, the genocide in Palestine that we are seeing live on a daily basis. It is impossible to digest such atrocities. A few days ago, the attack on Kamal Adwan hospital has left heart-rending stories of on-the-spot executions and sexual assaults by the Israeli army in northern Gaza.

According to testimonies collected by Euro-Med Monitor's field team, Israeli forces committed a series of horrific crimes during their assault on the hospital. These included the detonation of booby-traps near several inhabited houses, causing them to collapse and killing the civilians inside. The crimes also involved Israeli soldiers executing civilians on the spot, some of whom were wounded, while others were carrying white flags.
Israel continues to bomb, destroying homes, dynamiting entire neighbourhoods, hospitals and all kinds of civilian infrastructure, shooting at anything that moves, women, journalists, NGO workers. The murderers under Netanyahu's command continue to prevent the arrival of humanitarian aid, freezing and starving children to death, when not shooting them in the head.
All this in the face of the inaction of practically most of the countries around us and beyond and the complicity of other known murderers who continue to do business with genocide.
How will this barbarism be written? How will the Israeli invaders, occupiers and executioners twist history to hide or alter thousands of minutes of video and millions of photographs documenting the genocide?
Yes, I know there have always been wars, but this is not a war. And whoever is annoyed to read that this is worse than the Holocaust, fuck him, because the Nazis tried to hide and deny their genocide and Israel doesn't even try to hide it. It proudly displays it and allows and encourages voices to be heard openly calling for the annihilation of the Palestinian people.
By 2025, my only wish is to see the genocidaires, and all those who allowed them to commit such savagery, sitting in front of an international military tribunal.
