Graphic designer Dawn Shepard has produced a comprehensive infographic setting out Google’s 103 ranking factors, organised by order of importance in a single table.
The data in this comprehensive table comes from a survey carried out by Zyppy Signal in early September, in which 131 SEO professionals – includingsome of the most respected in the sector – were asked about Google’s ranking factors. It clearly illustrates what, according to these professionals, influences, helps or hinders Google rankings and traffic.
The creators have made it freely available so that you can use it however you like on any medium, although they do remind you that it is always appreciated if you credit the source. If you need a sharper image, they also provide a high-resolution version for download.
There aren’t many surprises regarding what we already knew about the most important ranking factors, but there is plenty of useful information on other factors of medium or lesser importance, which have far less influence than some people claimed.
At the bottom of the table, the list of factors that (slightly) harm your search ranking starts with AI-generated content (make a note of that). In any case, this avalanche of insipid content generated entirely by AI neither boosts nor improves rankings – quite the opposite, in fact. Be that as it may, the table can always serve as a comprehensive checklist for reviewing your site if you want to improve your SEO by focusing on everything that really matters.
