On 29 October 2024, floods in Valencia, and in other areas of Aragon, Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia and Catalonia, left 224 people dead, three missing and hundreds of thousands affected who lost their homes, vehicles and business premises.
A few days ago, the Generalitat Valenciana released an image to show that Mazón arrived at the Cecopi at 20.28 on the day of the dana. In the only image released, a video frame from the security system cameras of the Emergency Coordination Centre ( Cecopi), the melodious singer appears waving, when the situation was already irreversible for thousands of Valencians.
This week we have also learned that the Generalitat assures that Mazón "does not have a personal mobile phone", thus preventing his geolocation on the day of the DANA from being known, and that the promise that he was going to present the bill for the meal in El Ventorro was never heard of again.
The fifth demonstration was held today in Valencia to demand Mazón's resignation. According to the Government Delegation in Valencia, some 30,000 people took to the streets under the slogan"Mazón, resign".
Although the PP avoids making open statements about the possibility of dropping the burden that Carlos Mazón represents for the party, voices are already beginning to be heard suggesting that this could happen.
According to some PP officials consulted by Europa Press (who do not cite anyone in particular), the party is quite "concerned" about the "contradictions" and "changes of version" of the president of the Generalitat. Some of these people consider him practically "amortised". Moreover, they complain that, four months later, the guy is still sucking the camera and they are worried that he could end up "dragging" Núñez Feijóo along with him.
This may seem like an abrupt change of strategy, but it is not so abrupt. Let's remember the recent manipulations of the PP to save its ass. Rather, it seems that they are in the usual dynamic of delaying their "calm" exit in time and then saying the same old thing, that this was another PP, that these are matters of the past and that the "new PP" is unimpeachable.
