The price of electricity is fourteen times higher than on Christmas Day last year. On 25 December 2020 it cost 16 euros, on the same day in 2021 it reached 226.24 euros on the wholesale market. And that has gone down, mind you.
This year, the electricity thieves and all their accomplices who allow them to steal with three hands have left me a little Christmas present.
We have been charged 257 eurazos in the last bill. Almost 300% more than the previous month. It's a fucking robbery and a disgrace.

It doesn't matter what you do or how attentive you are to the different time slots stipulated for mugging. This month we've done exactly the same as we did last month, we're even supposed to have spent less because there have even been nights when I've put a blanket over my head, as if I live in the street, so I don't turn the heating on at all

There are tenants who pile up debts of electricity bills with their landlord and have to pay them off little by little by sacrificing many other things that are also basic and necessary. It is very hard. I don't need to tell you how bad the situation is, you can imagine it. At home we have also gone through shit like this for a very long time, several years.
And there are those who are (and will be) even worse off, like the 1,200 children and another handful of adults and old people who have been living in the Cañada Real, in prosperous, rich and free Madrid more than a year without electricity in the Cañada Real, in prosperous, rich and free Madrid. But there are those who are really screwed by the theft of electricity all over the country.
