The concept of the Nakba or "day of catastrophe" is an Arabic term (النكبة) introduced in 1998 by then president Yasser Arafat, to commemorate the exodus of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians during the conflict that forced them into permanent displacement and led to the creation of Israel on 14 May 1948.

76 years later, with an ongoing genocide and the passivity, or even direct assistance, of the governments of several countries, we are witnessing a new Nakba live, with the difference that it may end in an unprecedented massacre.

Israel has been pushing the Palestinians southwards "for their security" while annihilating them along the way and looting or destroying their homes and land until it has cornered more than a million people in Rafah, on the border with Egypt.

Egypt, knowing what is coming, is building a closed "high security" zone that some call "a wall" (but it is a piece of land surrounded by walls, a big concrete cage) to "host" Palestinian refugees from Gaza. Or in other words, to prevent them from walking freely in Egypt or moving to other places.

Australia, Canada and New Zealand have already warned Israel, always timidly and only lip service, against a "catastrophic" operation in Rafah announced by Netanyahu.

The US, as hypocritical as ever, which has not stopped supplying tons of weapons to Israel, now "warns" that it will not support the incursion into Rafah without a real plan to protect civilians. The macabre joke tells itself. Until yesterday, the tens of thousands of civilians killed in Palestine have mattered exactly three shits to the US. The reading to be made from this is that, if it doesn't support the attack, it will let them do it and won't lift a finger to stop it. As usual.

Meanwhile, the psychopaths of the IDF are sadistically reveling in showing the world their moral turpitude. They proudly and smilingly display the results of their genocidal acts and show the world the remains of the homes of those they have forced to move.
