Racism in football

Racism. Cartoon of 07/09/2024 in CTXT

Racism in football, in generic terms, became a hot topic a few days ago and was as short-lived as any other issue. Until it happens again.

Once again, this was brought up again, among other things, because of certain statements, behaviour and their consequences for the racists who roam the countryside.

I know of no other event or audience with such a level of incomprehensible "tolerance" misunderstood by a large part of society that allows being a hothead to be associated with a natural act of "tension release".

Tell me, in what other spectacle is it common for part of the audience to think it necessary and logical to insult and humiliate the performer in order to relax from the stress of the week. I don't know if there is racism (only) in football, and there is a lot of shit in this sport. What is clear to me is that there are a lot of racists who go to football and by tradition have been allowed to show themselves as self-confessed racists without complexes in the stadiums.

We have let them do it for too long. That's all there is to it. And I am very glad that we are stopping their feet and their tongues.

It is understandable that in any mass gathering of people there are groups of samugos of different kinds, but when we encourage this culture of "unleashing" we are contributing to an increase in the number of brainless people per square metre who consider it legitimate to act like savages, suggesting that this is a legitimate form of expression as spectators of a sport that "arouses passions".

Thus, with all these clichés reconverted into demagogic phrases to be printed on sugar sachets in the bars, we built a parallel world of impunity by appealing to lowly traditions and customs that were doomed to disappear.
