Although the documentary skims over his work as a cartoonist and illustrator, focusing on his work as a film director, his relationship with critics and other personal aspects, I have decided to include it in the repository.
SYNOPSIS
The documentary explores the life and career of film director Manuel Summers (Seville, 1935-1993), who won the Silver Shell for Best Director at the San Sebastian Festival with his debut film "Del rosa... al amarillo" (1963). A versatile filmmaker, actor and cartoonist, Summers was a great revelation in Spanish cinema. Over time, he became a very popular figure, at the same time as the critics were quick to criticise him. Perhaps because of his independent character, his work fell into oblivion after his death. We learn about his personality through his own testimonies, and what his films tell us about him, with the help of film critics, directors, professionals and his own family.
