Irán

Iran is an Islamic republic located in the Middle East, with a history dating back to the world's oldest civilisations. Originally known as Persia, it has been home to powerful empires such as the Achaemenid and Sassanid. The current name, Iran, was adopted in 1935 and means "the land of the Aryans". With an area of approximately 1,648,195 km², it is the seventeenth largest country in the world and is home to a population of over 88 million.

Strategically located between the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf, Iran shares borders with several countries, including Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. This location, together with its vast oil and gas reserves, gives it a geopolitically important role in the region and globally.
