Aznar and genocide

Aznar and genocide. Cartoon of 19/09/2025 in CTXT

Translation of the cartoon. Scene 1. Aznar: "If Israel lost what it is doing, we would have a problem in the Western world." Scene 2. Death: "Damn, this guy is really scary."

A report by the UN Commission of Inquiry on the occupied Palestinian territories concludes that genocide is taking place in Gaza and that "states must act to stop it".

The UN report of 16 September 2025, which has investigated what has happened since 7 October 2023 in the besieged Palestinian territory, states that "by killing, causing serious physical or mental injury, deliberately inflicting life-threatening conditions to destroy Palestinians, and preventing births in Gaza, the Israeli authorities and forces perpetrated four of the five genocidal acts to prevent this crime defined in the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide ".

Nor should it be forgotten that on 21 November 2024 the International Criminal Court already issued arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity for acts committed between 8 October and 20 May 2023.

In Spain, the state attorney general, Álvaro García Ortiz, has authorised an investigation (they still need to recount the dead) into actions that "could" constitute genocide and crimes against humanity committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

And to recapitulate a little, there are already many groups who consider that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. Among them are Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children, Human Rights Watch, the Israeli human rights organisation B'Tselem (a member of FIDH), which calls it"Our genocide", and at the end of August the International Association of Genocide Scholars(IAGS), which brings together more than 500 academics, issued a resolution to the same effect.

The ranking of disgust

In the PP they have short-circuited and cannot agree on how to put a "but" on the UN report and rename genocide or deny it. Thus, the PP spokesperson in Congress, Ester Muñoz, says that "it is not up to the UN to decide what genocide is".

But of all the PP's reactions, José María Aznar 's must be singled out because it is possibly the most despicable, although the competition for the meanest statement is very close.

This member of that historic trio of liars and murderers claims that if Russia wins the war and "If Israel were to lose what it is doing (he says this twice) we do not realise the problem we would have in the Western world and Europe (...) it would be putting the Western world on the brink of total defeat". Incidentally, this is the same discourse of sociopaths like Milei, who claims that"Israel is the basis of Western culture and capitalism and that is why they want to destroy it".

Here we have the mother of all subterfuges:"what he is doing".

Aznar, amidst sinister and macabre smiles, talks but says nothing concrete based on any data. He only reinvents a new term to justify genocide, "what he is doing". It is clear from his hollow verbiage that he considers exterminating the civilian population to be a lesser evil because genocide guarantees the survival of the Western world. It doesn't get any more disgusting than that. Or yes, when it comes to Aznar, any bigger shit is possible.

Alberto Núñez Feijóodid not want to get involved in the genocide either,"the massacre must stop", he asked the wind, while telling Pedro Sánchez:"to stay in power, you would even make a pact with Netanyahu". Because this is another of the PP's "star" lines of argument, it turns out that everything the PSOE says about Gaza is a smokescreen to cover up corruption. A classic.

Aznar, two days later, at the closing of the barrilas in his FAES chiringu, tried to patch up his rubbish to talk about the need to be"moved by human suffering", thus, in generic terms. Without culprits. And Feijoó, to fix the "massacre", accused the government of"condemning the Israeli people" for denouncing the genocide in Gaza. The peperos could not have elected a more stupid and obtuse president.

And whenever Aznar appears to be disgusting, Felipe González is always there to try to outdo him. During a colloquium in Palma de Mallorca on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Spain's accession to the European Union, when it seemed to be going more or less "well" (for the mummy that González is), he ended up subscribing to the worst of Israeli propaganda to say that"If Hamas does not want children and women to be killed, why doesn't it release the Israeli hostages? For González, the murdered are well and truly murdered and he approves of an eye for an eye multiplied by sixty thousand.

Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid, who had already justified Netanyahu and his genocide by assuring that Hamas uses children as "human shields", in order not to lose places in the ranking of disgusting, said that she was not going to allow"schools to be used for social engineering or ideological warfare" by banning activities and symbols of support for Palestine. Thus, some schools report that they have received circular letters banning "flags or political banners" in an attempt to eliminate all symbols of Palestine. Earlier, the secretary general of the PP in Madrid, Alfonso Serrano, had already heated up the atmosphere by calling the Vuelta demonstrators"riffraff" and"kale borroka".

Public schools in Madrid that choose to ignore Ayuso's ban on the right to life in Gaza can write to info@ctxt.es and they will ensure that these protest actions are publicised as widely as possible.

But the PP's ethomilogical logjam breaks for a moment. Then Albiol appears, the"Limpiar Badalona"(Clean up Badalona) and leaves his supporters with their asses in a twist by assuring that Gaza is a genocide.

Esperanza Aguirre, in her permanent intellectual baseness, parrots the same Western rhetoric to limit everything to the attacks of 7 October and deny that there is genocide in Gaza using the same absurd argument that Almeida used in his day that genocide is what happened to the Jews during World War II and that the extermination of civilians are "things" that happen in "wars".

And then the prepared man jumps on stage and bursts all the seams of the peperos. Felipe VI, on a visit to Egypt, denounces the"brutal and unacceptable suffering" in Gaza (they suffer, as if something hurts without a cause) and calls for the creation of a "viable Palestinian state". For the sake of asking, let there be no more.

Demolition and distribution

The reality is even crueler. On Wednesday 17 September, Israel's finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, claimed that the Gaza Strip is a vast wealth of real estate and that" the demolition phase has been completed" and that he is in talks with the US to divide and divide the Palestinian territory after the war. These statements coincide with Donald Trump's bluster that dominated the media agenda in February, his idea of turning Gaza into the"Riviera of the Middle East".

No one should be surprised that the United States has again vetoed in the UN Security Council a resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza, which called for open access to aid and the release of hostages.

Netanyahu makes no bones about his intentions: "There will be no Palestinian state. This place belongs to us" and is reviving a plan to separate East Jerusalem from the West Bank and promote permanent annexation in retaliation for growing international support for the Palestinian people.

In the meantime, the European Commission is in for grapes. It has submitted a proposal to the Council of the European Union to suspend part of the trade agreement with Israel - just a little bit, lest they get angry. The proposal envisages sanctioning Israeli ministers and others. Milk and beans.
