Climate change. Cartoon of 07/10/2023 in CTXT

Cartoon translation: A sign on the beach reads: "Book your Christmas dinner now".

Despite being close to the halfway point of October, I am once again sitting down to write without a shirt on (I have been working without clothes for about five months now), barefoot and with the windows open. Nor do I rule out turning on the air conditioning as I type this.

No one is unaware that it is hot. Very hot, too hot. Every day.

As if this were not enough, for reasons that I will not detail so as not to unleash an unprecedented armed domestic conflict, I confess that I am also suffering psychological torture at home. Here they turn on the TV in the early morning. To make matters worse, they tune in to the filth of Antena 3.

Well, at the beginning of the week, in that audiovisual hotchpotch full of yellowish and stupid pieces without a logical order that they call "news", they elevated to the category of news something that is not and should not be news, given the approach they gave it.

It turns out that, for Atresmedia, this"little heat", which is absolutely anomalous, is a very good thing for the chiringuitos. That's how they read it. They interviewed beach bar owners and customers saying platitudes and platitudes about how good it is in the beach bar.

Climate change 1

Heat wave. Cartoon August 2021.

Translation of the cartoon: "This weekend we are enjoying unusually pleasant temperatures".

This morning they came back with the same cochambre, but this time talking about how the hoteliers (that mourners' guild that always says they can't find waiters because they are lazy and want to charge too much) are very happy with the heat and the occupancy and so on.

No mention whatsoever of the dangerously exceptional nature of these extreme temperatures in October, nor of their causes or adverse effects. Nothing. No information of any kind. Just a string of two- or three-second statements from locals saying that the weather is very good and that hotel occupancy is going very well.

It is not surprising because this is how, and worse, Antena 3 treats any type of supposed information, when they do not manipulate and distort it to adjust reality to their editorial line.

Climate change denialism also involves normalising its harmful effects and burying them as advantages.

If you want to know more about this anomaly, you can read this article by Pedro Oria Iriarte, Territorial Delegate of AEMET in Navarre, in which he explains the "climatological" summers and how they are extending from May to October.

Standard deviations and anomalous temperature events, why is the October 2023 episode going to break all records?
