Everything has been reduced to a succession of headlines of records and days of historic highs as if they were the results of any sporting competition. Then come the traditional announcements of supposed and future measures to lower the price of electricity.
The echoes of the sputtering of 5 September, when Pedro Sánchez announced that by the end of 2021 we would have paid the same for electricity as in 2018, are still echoing. Nobody believed it.
Barely 24 hours later, on 6 September, the Minister for Ecological Transition denied it and announced, what a novelty, that the price of electricity would continue to rise.
Shortly afterwards, Pedro Sánchez said something along the lines of "softening what some called the 'axe' to the electricity companies, but admitting that he would not keep the promise on the front page". It didn't matter, the headlines were already "sold".
Is it so difficult to lower the price of electricity? And so much, you have to want to.
