Roots, a comic about violent radicalisation

Raíces is a 32-page comic book in Spanish with drawings by José Pablo García and script by Coral Sánchez Becerra published in 2021 by Cideal with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and framed in the Shabab Moutasamih ("Tolerant Youth") programme.

I came across the comic on the Twitter account of its illustrator and it can be downloaded in PDF free of charge from the foundation's website.

The aim of the work is to promote tolerance and civic coexistence among young Moroccans at risk in particularly disadvantaged neighbourhoods of Tangier, M'diq-Fnideq and Casablanca, favouring the prevention of violent youth extremism by intervening on the main factors that can lead to this type of behaviour.

An invitation to reflect on interculturality, integration, discrimination or prevention of violent radicalisation through the story of Farid, Alia and Yusuf in comic format

The Cideal Foundation for Cooperation and Research is an independent organisation with headquarters in Madrid and permanent delegations and experts in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and the Middle East that has been working in the field of development cooperation since 1983.
