Work and retirement

Translation of the cartoon:
Now, those who don't work don't want to.
You have to get out of your comfort zone.

Work and retirement

Fátima Báñez proposes, if they govern, to allow people to receive 100% of their retirement pension and work at the same time.

The minister proposes this from the point of view of the political cancamusa of"active ageing", so that Spaniards feel that they are capable of voluntarily contributing their experience to society through employment. Sold like that, it sounds nice.

But there is a lot to be said here. Companies do not think so much about these sentimental issues and could see an opportunity to get cheaper labour. A new pool of not-so-volunteer workers could be created, who would be forced to accept even lower wages to make up for the crappy pensions they have.

So this is likely to make it a bit more difficult for younger people to enter the labour market - generational change is supposed to be a natural thing.

Perhaps they are already preparing people to get used to the fact that they have to replace the very expensive pensions with a society that works until the last minute of its life.

I can already imagine the advertisements, they are looking for workers with a minimum of 60 years of experience.
