Mass grave. Cartoon of 19/04/2025 in CTXT.
Translation of the cartoon: "As the depth of the mass grave increased, the reaction of the world became shallower".
More than 51,000 people killed and more than 116,343 wounded, in addition to the accumulated and worsening humanitarian disaster in Palestine, is the toll of the new phase of genocide since 7 October 2023.
On 18 March 2025, Israel unilaterally broke the ceasefire and again prevented the entry of humanitarian aid as it continues to exterminate Gaza's population. Since that day, some 1,650 people have been killed and more than 4,300 injured, although as you read these lines the numbers will have risen.
Gaza, one of the most densely populated places on the planet, now represents the failure of memory. Decades of occupation, apartheid and ethnic cleansing have normalised the daily massacres, which have been buried in the news landscape under every other news item or the result of the latest football match. Sometimes not even that.
On 14 April, European foreign ministers met with the Palestinian National Authority in Luxembourg and cleared their consciences by committing to a 1.6 billion euro aid package to be delivered over three years, but without increasing sanctions against Israel and without addressing the situation in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Israel continues to attack hospitals, schools and refugee camps, but also continues to try to starve the population.
Since 2 March, no humanitarian aid has entered the Strip and, to make matters worse, the murderers have managed to leave the people without even bread by bombing the UNRWA flour distribution centre.
The UN is already talking about the worst moment in the 18-month siege and denounces the killing of more than 70 civilians in Lebanon. Bombing hospitals is now standard practice because the Israeli government's contempt for life and for any human rights treaty, text or idea is absolute.

The trial of history. Cartoon of 05/11/2023 in CTXT
It is inconceivable to me that we are simply witnessing the genocide of the Palestinian people. As something that is completely alien to us. The feeling of impotence is total when we contemplate the impunity of the murderers and the lukewarm, sometimes non-existent and/or complicit, reaction of the rest of the world.
We must not stop asking ourselves... What will we say when future generations ask us what we were doing while the Palestinian people were being exterminated?
